Whether you’re looking to find high quality accommodations for your next vacation, or trying to find someone to take your timeshare unit for the year, timeshare rentals are good ways to connect vacationers with timeshare owners. With the rental services at HGVCResales.com, we solve two problems at once—vacationers find the budget-friendly solutions they need, and timeshare owners cover their maintenance fees for the year.
However, the process can be confusing at times. Because of this, we’ve compiled this list of Timeshare Rental FAQs for people who are curious about renting a timeshare. Consult the sections below to find the quick answers you need.
The sections below address some common questions about renting your timeshare.
You can set your own rates for your timeshare rental. Rates are dependent on a number of factors, including the week of your reservation, the location of your resort, and the size of your accommodations. One popular strategy when determining rates is to price high enough to cover your annual fees. However, you can set your own price for your unit. List either nightly or weekly rates.
Yes. Prospective buyers will need to know what week your timeshare is available for rent, so you’ll need to make a reservation before you place an ad online. Also, for HGVC members, you cannot rent out your points-only certified reservations can be rented.
Once you find someone to rent your timeshare, the resort will have to be notified. Once you have a confirmed rental, call the resort Front Desk and give them your buyer’s information. This way, the resort knows who will be showing up on check-in day.
The sections below address some common questions about finding and purchasing timeshare rentals.
Once you find a unit you’d like to rent for your vacation, simply send an offer directly through the ad page. The offer data goes straight to the owner, and you can settle on a nightly or weekly rate from there.
When you reach an agreement with the timeshare owner, be sure to exchange personal information. Part of this information should be some sort of confirmation of reservation, whether it’s a printed document or referral number. If you want to touch base with the resort before your trip, make sure the timeshare owner has notified them of the rental before calling to ensure a seamless transition.
Not all membership benefits are transferrable through rental. Since you are renting accommodations, you will likely not have access to special features or bonus amenities like Clubhouse access, rounds of golf, complimentary goods, and other member-only features.
While HGVC Points and HHonors points are entirely different, the answer to this question relies solely on the resort at which you’re staying. If you rent an HGVC timeshare at an affiliated resort chain such as Club Intrawest, you will likely not be able to use HHonors points. However, Hilton brand name resorts will probably accept the points.
